I know that it sounds strange, but do you grind your teeth at night? If you do then it could be that you have worms or other parasites. Often people that have pin worms will scratch their bum and grind their teeth while sleeping. A quick trip to the doc can help with this.

I wanna know how to grow out my finger nails....?
I have weak, bending nails.. I need to grow them out for my job, ya know so I will look professional. No I aint a hooker. I work in an office. I cant use fake nails. They are not for me. Is there some sort of polish to put on them? HELPI wanna know how to grow out my finger nails....?

What did work for me is figuring out why I did it and finding something to take its place. A ';tick'; I bit my nails when I got nervous or during long stretches of boring time... so I got into the habit of rolling quarters and pens around my fingers instead, to kinda keep me busy. Now I have some neat tricks to flaunt off too!

The instructions with the kit said I should manicure my nails once a week. I did, faithfully, and by my wedding day, in August, my nails were beautiful and long. I wore white pearlized nail polish on them on my wedding day. They were so beautiful.
I think the reason I bit them was because there would be rough edges, and I wanted clean edges. By keeping them filed and polished (even with clear polish), I no longer had rough edges to clean up, and I didn't want to ruin my manicure.
I think if she'd just bought me the component parts, it wouldn't have done the job. The fact that everything was right there in a kit, I think did the job. I've been eternally grateful to her. I'm 67 years old and still have beautiful, long nails.
I think, also, it helps to use hand lotion after having them in water for extended periods. It keeps the nails supple and the hands beautiful. Even better is to wear rubber gloves. They take some getting used to; but, later you don't want to touch water without them.

At your local pharmacy/general good store (CVS, Rite aid, ect) they sell this nail polish that when you up it on, it makes your nails taste like you just sprayed hairspray in your mouth.
It's harmless and doesn't wash off unless you use nail polish. So it does the trick. The only bad side to this is that when you eat finger foods just be careful that you don't lick your fingers.
I've been for over two months without using the product now, and I haven't bit my nails. I do however cut them short but that's just a personal choice so I don't get the temptation.

First look back a couple of months and see if there is any psychological reason that she has started to bite her nails. (started a new school, moved, parent/relative left....) I had a cousin who used to bite her nails. Her parents tried a couple of different things including putting band-aids over the nails that she would chew on, using a product similar to Thum(I can't remember the actual product) and trimming/file her nails so that there was nothing to bite at.

It depends on what will motivate her to stop, and why she's doing it in the first place. I was a habitual nail-biter since age 6 or so, and my parents tried everything! Rubber band around the wrist to distract me from biting, the polish that tastes bad (this may be a good option!) and multiple rewards and punishments. I also picked up the habit of chewing my lips ick... that went on thru out high school and I finally stopped. Bad habits die hard.
First look back a couple of months and see if there is any psychological reason that she has started to bite her nails. (started a new school, moved, parent/relative left....) If you can't find any reason for it, it never hurts to ask her why she started to bite her nails,who knows she may have an answer for you. She also may be doing it without realizing it
I had a cousin who used to bite her nails. Her parents tried a couple of different things including putting band-aids over the nails that she would chew on, using a product similar to Thum(I can't remember the actual product) and trimming/file her nails so that there was nothing to bite at.
If she likes the berenstein bears books read her the one about sister bear biting her nails.If I remember correctly it ends with sister bear breaking the habit.

It depends on what will motivate her to stop, and why she's doing it in the first place. I was a habitual nail-biter since age 6 or so, and my parents tried everything! Rubber band around the wrist to distract me from biting, the polish that tastes bad (this may be a good option!) and multiple rewards and punishments. Is your daughter biting because she's nervous or scared about something, or is it just a habit that she doesn't even realize she's doing?

There are a lot of different methods, but the only one that works for me is to keep a nail clipper and file handy.
I can go weeks without nailbiting, but if I get the tiniest chip on one nail, I have to bite it until it's even... and once I'm in the habit, I got after all my other nails, too. Yes, I know it's digusting and not that good for my teeth, either.

I say that because if people would spend the extra money and went somewhere that has good,experienced, and highly skilled techs, their nails would not be in awful condition when they were removed. But, too late for that now. I just wish people would wake up and smell the coffee.
Anyway,you can use things like cuticle oil on your nails 2-3 times a day - every day. This will help to moisturize your nails and make them healthier. It will take some time, but you will start to see the results within just a few weeks. Also, make sure that you use a moisturizing hand lotion after every time you wash your hands, or get them wet. Also, use cotton lined rubber gloves when your hands will be exposed to water, and/or household hemicals for a prolonged period such as when cleaning or doing dishes. Water is one of natures most damaging chemicals, and it will ruin your nails after repeated, prolonged exposure to either water itself, or household chemicals. Even nail polish remover is not good when overused, Limit its use to once a week, or less. Nail polish will also damage your nails with overuse. Also, these polishes which supposedly contain things like vitamins, and other things that the company claims will help your nails to grow? Well, they don't work either. If the nails is thin and brittle, you cannot put something on top of it and expect it to get stronger. It just doesn't work that way. The key is to take care of the new nail which is growing out, and help that achieve its maximum health, and that is what will give you strong and healthy looking nails.
Nail strengtheners will work OK, but only for a short time. Avoid overuse of them. Most contain formaldehyde which will dry out your nails over time. Don't listen t people who may suggest taking, or eating gelatin. That will not work to strengthen your nails, nor does it make them grow. It is a myth. But many people still think its true. You can use Biotin as a natural supplement. This is a nutrient which has been shown in many studies to increase the thickness of nails by an average of 20% over the course of about 4-6 months. Pre-natal vitamins are also said to work well, but I have never used them so I cannot vouch for their effectiveness. If you don't have cuticle oil, then regular vegetable oil works just as well. Vitamin E often helps as well.

Do not paint the cats claws! She would probably injest the polish because cats use their paws to clean themselves, and often use their teeth to clean out their claws. You don't want to torture the poor cat with the strong smell of the polish anyway. She will resent you for it.

They don't hurt and the nail continues to grow under it, when they get long, the caps fall off and you replace them as needed. If you want to paint the nails, check a pet store for a brand made for pets.

I usually have to scrape them out during the day, but the best way to keep them white is to get denture cleaning tablets. They're really cheap and work well. Just put one in a small bowl of water, let it fizz up, and soak your nails in the water for a few minutes. It'll whiten your nails without making them weak.
You could always paint them to hide the fact that there is dirt accumulating underneath your nails.
Or bring a nail brush with you where ever you go to brush the dirt out. Make sure if you're going to wash your hands often to moisturize your hands afterwards! I hope this helps and good luck :)

Or get a needle or a nail kit and scrape out all that dirt from under the nails.

How can i prevent dirt from entering my finger nails?

I put gloves on my hands when I sleep. You can also chew gum or put some bitter tasting nail polish on your fingers. Or just busy your hands wherever you are; take up knitting :D
Dip them in finger nail polish as often as u can. (Get the non acetone because there a chance the acetone can cause cancer.) and tell ur friends family etc. to hit your hand hard every time u do. Also If its a nervous habit try twiddling ur thumbs or pressing them hard together.

I put gloves on my hands when I sleep. You can also chew gum or put some bitter tasting nail polish on your fingers. Or just busy your hands wherever you are; take up knitting :D
Dip them in finger nail polish as often as u can. (Get the non acetone because there a chance the acetone can cause cancer.) and tell ur friends family etc. to hit your hand hard every time u do. Also If its a nervous habit try twiddling ur thumbs or pressing them hard together.

I would keep them short and either wear varnish or you can purchase varnish for nail biters, which tastes disgusting. If you start having manicures it may encourage you to stop biting. You could also try chewing gum.

i have just not long ago had a baby and was always washing my hands, so they got really dry and my fingers cracked and i found that if i put some savlon or detol cream on them with a band aid over night, when i woke up the next day they were closed and not sore anymore. hope this helps you.
