How do I get my daughter to stop biting her finger nails?

Paint her nails with halapeno chilli juice. Watch it though it can be painful if smeared on skin. How do I get my daughter to stop biting her finger nails?
A mix of positive and negative reinforcements. Give her some type of reward for not biting her nails, and take something away of she continues to bite them. Nail polish also helps as it tastes awful. How do I get my daughter to stop biting her finger nails?
Hey, i used to bite my nails .. my mum used to take a wedge of lime adn rub them on my fingers.. and every time i bit them .. i would stop cos it was really sour.. i quit and i havent ever since.. goodluck
hehhe, that's weired....i was biting the skin around the nail when i saw your question......so i stopped....

am sorry i have no idea, but it depends on the mode of the person, like i only do that sometimes when am thinking and i feel like am having extra pressure at work or in a situation....though i don't do it infront of people, only when am thinking alone...so perhaps you may wanna try distracting your girl by a talk, a toy, or trying to understand what's in her head....:)

good luck
get her some finger nail polish it should say on the label if it's to get ppl to stop biting their finger nails and make her put it on and trust me she'll stop it tastes so gross.
she said she was 23 I'm 27 and I still bite my nails and have been since I was 5 I did stop for 2 years form 23 to 25 try getting her a manicure that always worked for me.
put them under a microscope and show her exactly what she's putting in her mouth. Worked for me, I surely don't do that anymore.
well i used tap and things like that
I had this problem when I was younger... my parents tried the nail biting polish and pepper remedies... it made me want to bit them even more because it made my mouth and tongue go numb and tingle... not really something that would cause you to stop.

What did work for me is figuring out why I did it and finding something to take its place. A ';tick'; I bit my nails when I got nervous or during long stretches of boring time... so I got into the habit of rolling quarters and pens around my fingers instead, to kinda keep me busy. Now I have some neat tricks to flaunt off too!
Biting fingernails is a security issue..you can NOT stop it with out causing other issues!

If she is old enough, take her to a manicurist and have silk tips applied..even then if she feels stress she will rip the fakes off and bite or tear the real nails...

Why are you so concerned about your daughter biting her nails?? Why does she feel so insecure would be my first concern!

I know I was a nail biter, and nail ripper, and I had good reason to do it...look for an underlying cause, there always is one!
Every morning make her dig her fingers in a bar of soap. Trust me.
I bit my nails 'til I was about 18 years old. Then, one Christmas, my Aunt Edna bought me a real, adult, complete, manicure set. The instructions with the kit said I should manicure my nails once a week. I did, faithfully, and by my wedding day, in August, my nails were beautiful and long. I wore white pearlized nail polish on them on my wedding day. They were so beautiful.

I think the reason I bit them was because there would be rough edges, and I wanted clean edges. By keeping them filed and polished (even with clear polish), I no longer had rough edges to clean up, and I didn't want to ruin my manicure.

I think if she'd just bought me the component parts, it wouldn't have done the job. The fact that everything was right there in a kit, I think did the job. I've been eternally grateful to her. I'm 67 years old and still have beautiful, long nails.

I think, also, it helps to use hand lotion after having them in water for extended periods. It keeps the nails supple and the hands beautiful. Even better is to wear rubber gloves. They take some getting used to; but, later you don't want to touch water without them.

Good luck to you and your daughter.
I don't know, I wish I could stop biting mine, I'm 23 for Pete's sake!
go to pharmacy and tell pharmacist the problem He or she will give you a product that is odorless but has a nasty taste It worked for me
